Veronica Barassi is a Lecturer in the Department of Media and Communications, Goldsmiths University of London and director of the BA Anthropology and Media degree. She is one of the founders of the Goldsmiths Media Ethnography Group. She acted as vice-chair of the Digital Culture and Communication Section of the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA) and she is currently the chair of the E-Seminars of the Media Anthropology Network of the European Association of Social Anthropology. Her work has appeared on top ranked international journals and she is the author of Activism on the Web: Everyday Struggles against Digital Capitalism (Routledge, 2015), which examines the everyday tensions that political activists face as they come to terms with the increasingly commercialised nature of web technologies.
Alice Mattoni is Assistant Professor at the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences, Scuola Normale Superiore and a Research Fellow at the Cosmos – Centre on Social Movement Studies, hosted in the same institution. She is one of the editors of the online open-access journals Interface: A Journal for and about Social Movements and Participation and Conflict – Partecipazione e Conflitto. She co-directs the ECPR-COSMOS Summer School on Methods for the Study of Political Participation and Mobilization. She is the author of Spreading Protests. Social Movements in Times of Crisis co-edited with Donatella della Porta (ECPR Press, 2014); Advances in the Visual Analysis of Social Movements co-edited with Nicole Doerr and Simon Teune (Emerald, 2013); Media Practices and Protest Politics.
